ABS
is an extruded grade and is ivory white in colour. It
is one of the most common thermoplastic sheets, particularly amongst the thick gauge plastic sheets for thermoforming. ABS was developed from HIPS sheet enhancing the chemical resistance and impact strength by the polymerising of butadiene rubber with acrylonitrile and styrene. The sheets have replaced traditional metal materials due to its ease of formability, increased durability, and better weather ability. Its high rigidity and impact strength combine with its excellent abrasion resistance to make it the ideal material for a wide variety of applications. ABS sheet also exhibits a high resistance to chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures and can be machined, drilled, or die-cut with relative ease.
Properties: It has a high degree of rigidity, excellent thermo-formability, excellent impact strength and toughness. It has low water absorption and good chemical resistance properties and is also printable.
Applications: Automotive, boat and truck panels, poker machine faces, suitcases, power box casings, decorative panels, packaging.
